Gibbston Valley Station will be specifically designed to protect and enhance the exceptional resources
and characteristics of the area.
A distinct architectural philosophy
will see buildings at
Gibbston Valley Station sit comfortably in their natural environment. High quality designs will reflect the traditional styles, tones and materials of the region, expressed with
a contemporary twist.
In keeping with the rural character of the valley, careful site planning will ensure the clusters of buildings are only partially visible to passers-by – if at all.
The site’s remarkable history as a gold mining area and traditional country station is still very much in evidence. Significant remnants of early activity can be seen in the miners’ huts, mine tailings and shepherds’ quarters found across the Station.
The history of the site will be preserved and celebrated through the protection of original structures, while a network of trails will allow residents and visitors to enjoy over 1,000 acres of property that makes up
Gibbston Valley Station’s unique environment.
Vineyard and orchard plantings in the Station’s most suitable locations will
also surround much of the residential development. A comprehensive native restoration programme will also be a
focus of the project.
