Project Update – Proposed Winery Cottages
Gibbston Valley is in the preliminary stages of preparing plans for winery cottages to be located adjacent to Gibbston Valley Winery. There are ten two-bedroom cottages planned, with en-suites and open plan living, and a further six two-storey units with four bedrooms. The winery cottages will be within easy walking distance of Gibbston Valley Winery, nestled behind existing vineyards. Proposed amenities for the cottages will include a central green and clubroom with BBQ facilities, an outdoor dining area, and a pool and spa facility located in a sheltered position next to a large water feature. This facility will also have a workout room and changing facilities.
It is proposed to start the golf teaching facility at the same time as the construction of the winery cottages. This teaching facility will include a short course comprised of four golf holes, a driving range, and a pitch and putt green facility. The short course will take advantage of the dramatic location, with the holes being located adjacent to the Kawarau River.
We believe these winery cottages will have great appeal to those with an interest in wine, golf and enjoy outdoor activities, such as hiking, walking and mountain bike riding. There will be a variety of trail experiences available to our owners of the cottages. It is anticipated that the Gibbston River Trail, which will follow 7.5km of the Kawarau River, will be completed this coming summer. This trail will have walking access from the winery and the winery cottages.
It is intended that the winery cottages will be run as a private residency club with management and concierge services located at Gibbston Valley Winery.
