Queenstown has been voted No 1 Outdoor and Adventure Destination in the World in Trip Advisors Travellers’ Choice Awards. Other honours bestowed on Queenstown by the Travellers’ Choice Awards are:
• Europeans’ fourth favourite destination in the world
• Second overall in the top ten South Pacific destinations
• Second top culture and sightseeing destination in the South Pacific
• Third in the top ten food and wine destinations in the South Pacific
• Third in the top ten nightlife destinations in the South Pacific.
The travel bible Lonely Planet, has named New Zealand as one of the top countries to visit in 2010. The Guide’s authors said of New Zealand that there is truth in the old saying “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, and the last time they checked, “the land of Maori and Hobbits certainly didn’t need repairing.” Paragliding over Queenstown was one of the activities singled out as a life-changing experience by the guide.
