Motatapu 2010 – this gruelling annual event was held on 21 March and ran through the iconic Motatapu, Soho and Glencoe stations, starting from Glendhu Bay (Wanaka) and finishing in Arrowtown. Around New Zealand Air Safari 2010 was held on 1 April in Queenstown, attracting 70 aircraft and 230 aviators into the town.
Also held recently were the SPARC Real Women’s Duathlon at Millbrook, the Fat Tyre Hell Bike Challenge, and the Lake Hayes Triathlon.
Warbirds over Wanaka (WOW) 2010 – the mountain scenery and amphitheatre at Wanaka Airport provided a stunning backdrop to an extravaganza of action over three days. Displays included warbirds, modern jets, helicopters, aerobatics, warhorses (military vehicles), vintage machinery, an Aviation Trade Expo and market stalls, as well as wine and food from Central Otago.
Arrowtown Autumn Festival – the 26th Arrowtown Autumn Festival celebrated Arrowtown’s spectacular autumn colours, with over 60 events, including the street parade of floats, guided historical walks around Arrowtown, live music, street performers, gold panning and much more.
